Wildlife highlights
Migration timing
🦓 Not a migration park. The dry season (May-Nov) is prime: elephants and predators crowd the Great Ruaha River as it shrinks. Green season (Dec-Apr) rewards birders.
What to pack
Hot, dry days and cool nights: breathable layers, a warm layer for dawn drives, sun hat, and malaria precautions for dusk. Camps are remote — bring any personal medication with you.
Park fees
Entrance is roughly US$45-60 per person per 24 hours depending on season, administered by TANATOCA. Remote camps usually collect and pre-pay fees — confirm with your operator.
Wildlife safety
Ruaha holds one of East Africa's largest lion populations and significant wild dogs. Walks are ranger-escorted only; around camps at night, always ask staff to escort you to your tent.
