The Delta is a water safari: floodwaters arrive from Angola in the dry months (an anti-seasonal quirk), concentrating game onto islands while mokoros and boats thread the channels. Concessions (Vumbura, Duba, Mombo country and the community-run NG ranges) define the experience — private access means off-road driving, night drives and walking. Moremi holds the reserve core; the permanent-water panhandle suits fishing and birding trips. This is Botswana’s high-cost/high-reward country: camps run US$500–2,000+ per night all-inclusive, and every pula shows.

What to pack

Soft duffels (light-aircraft limit 20 kg), neutral layers for cold 8–15 °C dawn boat rides even in June, sun kit, dry bags for camera gear, and a headlamp — camps are unfenced and lantern-lit.

Park fees

Concession camps price all-inclusive (accommodation, activities, park/concession fees folded in); Moremi entry ≈ Pula 230 (~US$17)/day for foreigners. Delta trips almost always book as packages through operators. Verify current fees.

Wildlife safety

Camps are unfenced: elephants and hippos move through after dark — escorted walks are mandatory, always. On foot, guides carry and know when to stand still; never wander between tent and main area alone at night.

A flagship park: expect higher park fees and premium lodges, and plan further ahead in peak season.
