Chief Moremi’s reserve covers roughly a third of the Delta and carries its densest game: the Khwai–Xakanaxa–Third Bridge triangle is a self-drive classic, with riverfront tracks that out-produce many private concessions for sightings per hour. It is also the most affordable Delta experience — public campsites (booked far ahead) and community-lodge bases at Khwai village put the waterways within reach of mid-range budgets.

What to pack

Self-drivers: recovery basics, tyre repair kit, 60+ litres of water, fuel range for 500+ km (fill in Maun; nearest fuel inside is none). Campers need full kit — this is real bush camping with baboon-proof storage.

Park fees

Entry ≈ Pula 230 (~US$17)/day for foreign adults; camping ≈ US$25–35/person/night via the government reservation system. Campsites sell out months ahead for July–October. Rates change — confirm.

Wildlife safety

Hippos graze the campsites at Third Bridge at night — stay in your tent, use torches, never walk to the ablutions without a torch sweep. Baboons raid unattended food instantly.

A flagship park: expect higher park fees and premium lodges, and plan further ahead in peak season.
